You can learn how to access your Akashic Records and discover who you were in your past lives. But first, there needs to be a clear understanding of reincarnation and what the Akashic Records are. Many religions share the concept of reincarnation, which says that you come back “life after life,” so you can learn lessons and grow as a spirit. The Akashic Records are where the details of those lives have been stored. These actions are then reviewed before you go to heaven. But you don’t need to wait for that to discover who you were and what happened in your past lives!
You can learn how to access your Akashic Records now, so you can benefit from your own history and wisdom.
There are lots of ways you can go about looking into the Akashic Records.
1. Watch YouTube Videos.

2. Try meditations from books.
I’ve read several books on the Akashic Records that have been incredibly helpful. One of the top experts in the field is Linda Howe with her book “How to Read the Akashic Records.” She provides a structured method to go into the records to find your past life details. Another good resource is “The Akashic Records Made Easy” by Sandra Ann Taylor, which offers a simple approach for connecting with the records. A favorite book of mine is the bestseller “A Radical Approach to the Akashic Records: Master Your life and Raise Your Vibration” by Melissa Feick. This book goes into lots of different areas that the others don’t cover. Each one of these books offers you a proven method to delve into your own records and learn from your past lives. Literally, thousands of books have been written on this topic that will guide you through the process.
3. Work with an Akashic Records reader.
Many experienced intuitive people can look into the records for you. You can choose someone to work with who has learned how to access the Akashic Records on your behalf. This can often be a great way to start if you are unfamiliar with meditation.
4. Try Akashic Records Tarot.
There are a number of Tarot card decks that utilize the records as their theme. Using the cards might give you some insights into who you were before or about the lessons you may have learned. This can be a fun way to begin investigating your past. RELATED: How Akashic Records Can Help You Heal Your Love Life
5. Look for clues.
There are also clues you can find in your daily life that tell you where you may have lived before. Take out your journal and think about each of the prompts below. For some prompts, the answers will come easily from your life and the connections will become obvious. Make a list of what comes to mind from each suggestion below. You might not relate to all of the statements, which is normal and to be expected.
Favorite cuisines and foodsPeriods in history you are drawn toFavorite historical fiction movies and booksTalents and skills from this lifeHobbies that make you happyCountries you are drawn to or have visitedType of land you feel happiest on: mountains, ocean, woodlands, and so onWeather preferences: temperature, humidity, etc.Your career or work history from this lifeDéjà vu experiencesMemorable dreams
Once you write answers to a bunch of these prompts, you may start to see patterns and clues to who you have been in previous lives. Here are a couple of examples from my life, so you can see how this works. In high school, I learned how to do calligraphy the old-fashioned way with pen and ink and was good at it from the start. When I did some past life work, I discovered I had been a Christian monk somewhere in Europe during the Middle Ages who created the intricate pages for illuminated Bibles. Then in college, I studied art for a summer in Italy, and felt so at home I didn’t want to leave. The beautiful Tuscan landscape and ancient buildings that still existed in the town where I lived continually fascinated me and held my attention. Most likely you have at least one or two similar examples from your own life when you think about it.
The Best Way to Ask Questions about Your Past
Now that you know how to access the Akashic Records and gather clues, it’s time to learn what kind of questions will help you get the information you want about your past lives. Be sure to avoid questions that are formatted for Yes/No answers. Open-ended questions offer the most fruitful results when accessing the Akashic Records. In addition, the records are better suited to questions about your past or present life vs. anything related to your future. They aren’t meant to predict what will happen but instead help you learn lessons about your present or past lives. Often, the best way to look back is to start with something from your life today. If you are experiencing a problem now or are worried about something, you can look into your past to get helpful insights. Try any of these questions to gain the knowledge you need:
Which of my past lives is related to my current situation and what I can learn from that? What happened in my past that is similar to (state problem) that will shed light on what action I need to take? What do I need to know from my past that can help me today? Why am I with my partner today and what am I meant to learn from this? How does my work today serve me and how is it related to previous lives? What is the root cause of my money issues and how can I resolve this today? Why can’t I find a loving partner and how does this serve me now?I have relationship issues with my partner/parents/sibling/friend. How can I turn this around? How might my anxiety be related to a past life and what can I learn that will help me today?
Now that you have learned how to access the Akashic Records, and the best way to prepare your questions, you are ready to get started. Be sure to journal about your results and any information, no matter how small or unrelated it might seem. Many times, the guidance is fleeting, a little hard to hold onto, and easily forgotten. That’s why it’s smart to keep a pen and paper nearby when you do this work, so you can capture whatever learning you received. Piece by piece, the answers you need will appear, or on occasion you could get a block of information that sheds light on your situation. Overall, accessing the Akashic Records is a valuable process that helps you better understand your life, behavior, and inner motivation.
